OpenAI on Tuesday announced that it will offer ‘ChatGPT Go’ — which comes with higher query limits and enhanced image generation capabilities — free for one year to users in India who sign up during a limited-time promotional period beginning November 4.
‘ChatGPT Go’ is OpenAI’s recently launched subscription tier, providing users with expanded message limits, image generation, and file upload features. India, which is ChatGPT’s second-largest and among its fastest-growing markets, has shown strong adoption of the tool.

“To celebrate OpenAI’s DevDay Exchange event in Bengaluru on November 4 — its first in India — we are making ChatGPT Go available free for one full year to all users in India who sign up during this limited-time offer,” OpenAI said.
Launched in August, ChatGPT Go was developed following user feedback requesting more affordable access to advanced AI features. Within its first month, the number of paid ChatGPT subscribers in India more than doubled, prompting OpenAI to expand the plan to nearly 90 markets worldwide.
Millions in India now use ChatGPT daily, including developers, students, and professionals. OpenAI stated that this promotion reinforces its ‘India-first’ commitment and supports the IndiaAI Mission, reflecting the country’s growing AI ecosystem ahead of the AI Impact Summit next year.
Existing ChatGPT Go subscribers in India will also be eligible for the free 12-month promotion.
