PANJIM, MARCH 12: Hours before the start of municipal election on Sunday, State Election Commission late on Saturday evening ordered transfer of Panjim Sub Division Police Officer (SDPO) Deu Benaulikar to Ponda till Monday, March 14 midnight.
Similarly, Ponda SDPO Serafin Dias has been shunted to Panjim for the election duties till the counting of votes on Monday.
The order comes after the Leader of Opposition Manohar Parrikar on Friday alleged Benaulikar’s strong links with Babush Monserrate and demanded his immediate transfer.
“Benaulikar is acting as a stooge of Babush Monserrate. We have demanded immediate transfer of the DySP. We have written to the SEC in this regard,” he had said.
