PANJIM: The Goa State Pollution Control Board had issued guidelines to the Airports Authority of India (AAI) on how to apply for the renewal of the consent to operate for Dabolim airport’s under construction new terminal, after the permission expired.
GSPCB Chairman Jose Noronha said that Board on November 7, 2008, had issued consent for construction of the new terminal for a period of three years. The AAI thereafter wrote a letter stating that since the expected completion of the new terminal is July 2013, their consent should be extended up to March 2014, he said.

“But for renewal also they will have to apply. As such we issued them directions asking to file an application for renewal,” he said.
The AAI has to apply under Section 25(I) of the Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act 1974 and under Section 21 (I) of the Air (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act 1981 for the consent.
