People want to invest in Goa: Kamat

Chief Minister Digamabar Kamat today claimed that despite protests and agitations against special economic zones (SEZs) and other industrial projects, people want to invest in the State of Goa.
“In spite of setback, in form of protests against industries and SEZs, Goa still remains most favoured destination for investment,” Kamat said while addressing the gathering at the Goa State Industries Association (GSIA) annual general body meeting, here. Kamat added, “People want to come here but we cannot give them a red carpet welcome like the other States do.”
“Whenever any industrialist tells me of his plans for investment in Goa, I tell them to be cautious as I cannot welcome them directly,” Kamat said referring to the protests which led to government scrapping SEZs in the State.
On the complaints that the industries were not getting proper power and water supply, Kamat said, “We have discussed the matter at a meeting and are trying to find out a solution to the issue.” “The government is keen to improve the infrastructural scenario for the industries in form of water and power,” he said.
