PONDA: Petrol, diesel rates reaches nearing (Petrol Rs 98.09, diesel Rs 94. 36) hundred at Ponda. Locals with double hit by pandemic and hike in fuel prices, inflammation of lPG gas, edible oil, reminds government to fulfill its promise of ‘Acche Din’.
The vehicle owners at petrol pumps were heard sharing their grievances on how they are suffering due to rising fuel prices. They regret due to this their daily are going berserk and leaving nothing to save for future. Umesh Naik from Ponda said he earns Rs 15000 per months but spends most on fuel and life essential commodities and nothing left for saving.

N Shivdas social worker and author reminded government to fulfill ‘Acche Din’ as promised by PM. He said people are already suffering due to pandemic and job losses and if this fuel prices continue to rise the transportation cost on goods, vegetables, commodities would go on increasing and one day normal people would die out of starvation. He recalled memories of former CM Manohar Parrikar as how he cut taxes by Rs 8 and provided petrol at Rs 60 per liter to Goans. He further said fuel prices are not increasing because of hike in international prices but because of frequent increasing taxes by government. He said government can afford to give at Rs 50 per liter only by reducing hefty taxes.
Shivdas questioned now where is BJP women wing that was frequently protesting during Congress rule for reducing prices. He said BJP leader and Smrithi Irani and Narendra Modhi before becoming PM were vocal against fuel hike during Congress rule; now time has come that somebody question him on daily hike in fuel price.
Bandora Sarpanch Rajesh Naik at Ponda said government should note that with hike in diesel prices inflation is rising. People are already suffering due to pandemic and job loss.
