PANJIM: Gomantak Dhangar Samajonnati Mandal, supported by Shiv Sena, has demanded the suspension of Sanguem Police Inspector Sagar Ekoskar for allegedly assaulting a tribal youth at the police station on June 9, 2018.
On Friday around 100 members of the Dhanagar community demonstrated at Azad Maidan before meeting Director General of Police Muktesh Chander. The Mandal’s Sanguem taluka President Babu Rekdo said, “Janu Zore, who was accompanying his brother to the police station in connection with the compromise worked out by Ekoskar, was attacked inside the police station and even his cell phone was smashed. If you go by the eyewitnesses and evidence, including the lawyer who was in the police Station, the entire attack was unprovoked. Janu was just present at the police station as moral support to his brother and had not uttered a single word.”
The victim, who was present at the protest, alleged that the PI hurled abuses at him.
