VALPOI: The locals of Panshe and Pissurlem on Tuesday staged a morcha in front of Water Supply Department, Valpoi demanding to solve their potable water problem, which they are facing for the last 15 years.
As the Assistant Engineer was busy in the meeting, he couldn’t listen to the locals’ grievance. Around 100 villagers were present for the morcha.
They said, “For the last 15 years we are getting the water bills every month, but water is not flowing in their taps. We depend on the water takers which are provided by the mining companies.”
“During the Zilla Parishad elections campaign, Health Minister Vishwajit Rane has promised us that he will solve our water shortage problem very quickly. Now, after elections got over the Health Minister is not responding to us,” said the villagers.
“15 years ago, the Water Supply Department had installed the water pipeline in our village, but till date we are not getting the proper water supply to our household taps. I have complaint several times to the department, regarding the water shortage problem in our village. They have not taken any action till now. I have raised the issue at gram sabhas many times, nothing happened. Also I have informed Health Minister Vishwajit Rane. He had promised to solve the problem but now he is not responding to us,” informed Laxman Gawade, Deputy Sarpanch, Pissurlem Panchayat.
