Place report card of double engine BJP govt on 24 core issues concerning Goans: Cong to CM

Says Margao & Canacona MLAs’ refusal to contest as BJP candidates for Lok Sabha polls exposes the failed report card of ‘double engine’ government

MARGAO: The Goa Congress on Wednesday turned the tables on Chief Minister Pramod Sawant by throwing an open challenge to him to place before the people of Goa the report card of the double engine BJP government on 24 core issues concerning Goans.

Addressing a press conference at Margao, Goa Congress president Amit Patkar said, “Margao MLA Digambar Kamat and Canacona MLA Ramesh Tawadkar refusing to contest as South Goa BJP candidate for Lok Sabha exposes the failed report card of the double engine government.”

South Goa Member of Parliament (MP) Francisco Sardinha and South Goa District Congress President Savio D’Silva were also present.

Patkar questioned, “We want to know from the CM if his front engine extended necessary support and cooperation to Opposition MPs in the last 5 years or was BJP engaged only in expelling MPs from the Parliament to suppress their voice?”

He demanded for the report card from the BJP government led by Sawant on issues like scrapping of the three linear projects, withdrawal of DPR of Kalasa Bhandura project given by the BJP-led Central government, DPR showing benefits for Goa and from IIT Project at Rivona, DPR on Film City at Loliem Canacona with 

its benefits to Goa and Goans in terms of jobs and employment opportunities and also benefit to Loliem Comunidade.

“We want to know the report on the Mega Job Fair conducted by the Goa government by spending almost Rs 4 crore. We want to know the report on how many times BJP CM’s announced mining resumption in the last 12 years. We want to know the report on the investigation status of 21 cases of corruption ordered by Goa Lokayukta. We want to know the report on the investigation of the mysterious death of Siddhi Naik,” Patkar demanded.

He charged that the BJP government had failed to release funds to the tune of nearly Rs 500 crore towards social welfare schemes. He also said that recovery of Rs 1,400 crore electricity bills are pending from industrial, commercial and government offices defaulters.

He demanded that chief minister should give a report on why Rs 2,000 crore are not recovered from big companies on account of mining, rural welfare cess, green cess dues?

Patkar also raised the issues of inadequate facilities at South Goa District Hospital, Corruption in Iron Ore Dump Policy, Mass Land Conversions and various other issues which shows Failed Report Card of BJP Government

“My Report Card is with the people of South Goa. I have exhausted all my funds. I have done works is every Village in South Goa. One of my Project of Cemetery is complete. I invite Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant to come and inaugurate it on Saturday 17th February 2024, “said Sardinha.
