PONDA: Ponda Municipal Council on Friday formed six committees; however, the special committee for Municipal Solid Waste Management could not be formed as there is no such provision for a separate committee.
“Under the Municipal Act, the Municipal Solid Waste comes under sanitation-medical and public health committee, due to which we cannot form a separate committee,” PMC Chairperson Dr Radhika Naik told media persons after the meeting.
“We have formed six committees and all the councillors were elected unanimously on these committees,” she added.
The committees are: standing committee, public work committee, education committee, sanitation-medical and public health committee, water supply and drainage committee and planning and development committee.
