PONDA: The Ponda Municipal Council (PMC) has decided to initiate the process of preparing the Outline Development Plan (ODP) of Ponda City. The decision was taken at the council meeting on Wednesday.
Municipal Chairperson Pradeep Naik said that the local MLA Ravi Naik suggested that there should be proper provision of parking plans in ODP.
Pradeep Naik said each councillor has been asked to submit his/her suggestion and also to show and include existing and proposed roads, commercial areas, green areas in ODPs in case they are not shown in ODP.
The meeting also decided to show the Aframent land owned by PMC in the ODP. The chairperson said that most of Aframent lands owned by the municipality during the Portuguese rule have been grabbed by people and they have constructed residential houses on that land.
Ponda MLA Ravi said that Ponda is growing a city and hence proper planning is required. He said that parking and other facilities should be provided.
Chairperson Naik said that after receiving suggestions from councilors, the same would be discussed at next council meeting and thereafter suggestions for ODP of Ponda would be sent to South Goa Planning and Development Authority.
