Police record statement of 2 year old Corlim accident survivor

PANJIM: Old Goa police have managed to record the statement of one of the five surviving victims in the Corlim-Old Goa highway accident, while the condition of three others continues to remain critical. Two-year-old Shannon, the youngest member of the Pereira family, spoke to the police. “He told the police and the NGO (in whose presence the statement was recorded) that ‘uncle was driving the car’ and he heard a big noise (which was an impact of the collision),” said a source. Shannon, along with four-year-old Manashree Bhoir, who died in the accident were reportedly having fun at the time of the accident. “He is an infant. We can’t expect him to detail what happened prior to the accident,” the source said. PI Gurudas Kadam said doctors have still not declared Saurabh Bhoir fit to give a statement. The Old Goa police have recorded the statement of the truck driver and the cleaner who claimed innocence.
