PANJIM: A day after Panjim police busted a high-profile prostitution racket rescuing a struggling Bollywood actress and arresting a woman pimp, it is now investigating whether the women had visited offshore casinos before the crackdown at a city’s five-star hotel on Tuesday.
“We are investigating whether the women visited any offshore casinos. It is most likely they did,” PI Siddhant Shirodkar said replying to a question posed by Herald.
The rescued actress, presently in the Protective Home, Merces, has accused Ayesha Sayyad of cheating her into the illicit trade under the garb of movie auditions in Goa. Her family members are expected to arrive in Goa this week.
Panjim police are also looking out for the co-accused, who is said to be operating the network from Mumbai. “We have managed to get certain leads based on which our team is tracing the co-accused’s whereabouts,” he said declining to give further details of the case.
Sayyad’s mobile call details are being tracked with Panjim police also probing whether the duo actually landed in Goa on Tuesday. Their return tickets were booked for Wednesday.
The pimp had booked two rooms at the starred hotel at Rs 7-8,000 each for one day. “The entire transaction between the hotel and the woman was online,” a raiding team member said. Both women – known to each other – claim to hail from middle-class families.
