MARGAO: The Dindi festival, dedicated to Vitthal-Rakhumai, was celebrated in Margao, on Thursday with great pomp and religious fervour.

The Dindi with the palanquin of Shree Vithal Rakhumai took off from Shri Hari mandir, Pajifond, evening on November 14 and on its way it will pay a customary visit to Shree Damodar Sal well past midnight.
The procession passed through traditional places.
Devotees were allowed to take darshan on its way as well as near Shree Hari Mandir.
The procession will return to the Hari Mandir in the wee hours of Monday. After the Gopal Kalo at dawn, the celebrations will conclude on Friday. The Dindi festival commenced on November 9.
Thousands of devotees from Goa and Karnataka throng to Margao to witness Dindi, one of the oldest festivals in the Salcete taluka. Devotees offered flowers, fruits, and prayers at the Vitthal-Rakhumai temples. Cultural programmes were organised at Hari Mandir and near the Vitthal Mandir.
Every year sangeet bhaitakas are the main attraction of the festival as several music lovers from Goa attend the event to listen to famous artistes and take darshan of Lord Vithal Rakumai . Outstation classical artistes performed at the Hari Mandir and other places in the town.
The Margao traffic police and town police made elaborate security arrangements along the entire route, right from Hari Mandir to Vitthal Mandir as a precautionary measure and to ensure smooth flow of traffic.
