PONDA: An alert flat owner nabbed a 67-year-old native of Andhra Pradesh while he was allegedly committing theft at his flat in Ponda city on Wednesday.
According to Ponda Police, Chandrakant Shinde, owner of the flat at Pricess Heritage Building in Ponda city, had closed his flat and had gone to his pharmacy, which is situated in the same building. After working for a while, his wife, who was supposed to go for a medical check-up, asked her husband to get her medical papers which she had forgotten in the flat.
Police said when Shinde went to the flat, he was shocked to see his flat open and cupboard door broke open and a man trying to open internal lock of the cupboard with a rod to grab valuables.
Police further informed that Shinde caught hold of the burglar and with the help of locals, called police and handed him over to them.
Police said the accused, Prashant Reddy, complained that he was unwell and he was later admitted to Ponda Sub District Hospital, from where he was shifted to Hospicio in Margao. PSI Suraj Gavas is investigating.
