Ponda police denied leave

PONDA: In view of security measures during Ganesh Chaturthi, none of the Ponda Police staff have been sanctioned leave during the festival.

PONDA: In view of security measures during Ganesh Chaturthi, none of the Ponda Police staff have been sanctioned leave during the festival.
“None of the staff have been granted leave, as we have limited police personnel. The police personnel have been asked to make adjustments depending on duty periods and based on the situation in the area,” informed Ponda PI C L Patil.
In view of security measures during the Ganesh Chaturthi festival, DySP Dinraj Govenkar along with PI Patil convened a meeting with the police personnel attached to Ponda Police station.
DySP Govenkar and PI Patil briefed in detail the security aspect and measures to be strictly monitored by the police personnel during the 21-day festival.
According to information, there will be about 114 police personnel and seven police sub-inspectors patrolling the taluka during Ganesh Chaturthi and Ponda Police station has asked for additional staff. Police personnel have also been asked to make use of their personnel vehicles to patrol the area during the festival.
“We will also request people not to keep valuables in the house if they are visiting their native place during the festival,” said PI Patil.
