The Dept of Portuguese, Goa University, has organized two lectures-cum-cinema sessions on September 21 and 22 at its Arts Faculty Seminar Hall. The sessions will be delivered by Dr Fatima Velez de Castro and Prof Manuel Ferro of University of Coimbra, Portugal.
The main aim of the sessions is to present images on Portuguese culture through the films. The focus of these sessions will be on the changes that are taking place in the Portuguese society and the reflection of these changes through literature and cinema.
The films to be presented are ‘Aquele querido mes de Agosto” by Miguel Gomes and ‘Non, ou a va Gloria de Mandar” by Manoel de Oliveira, which is about the identity and fate of Portugal through the various turning points in history.
