PORVORIM: Porvorim MLA Rohan Khaunte on Thursday urged the Governor of Goa to recall the permissions given by the State government to open the casinos and for holding Sunburn.

He also stressed on the need for early Assembly session.
In a written letter to Governor of Goa Bhagat Singh Koshyari, the Porvorim MLA and former revenue minister, sought intervention in the decisions taken by the State government on opening of casinos and holding Sunburn event when the State is on the brink of witnessing second wave of COVID-19 pandemic. Khaute also proposed for an early Assembly session to strengthen the lagging democratic and administrative process in the State as the government is lacking foresight and management capability.
He pointed out Goa is treading dangerously into an inopportune festive season mode throwing caution to the wind by allowing casinos to operate from November 1, which will prove to be a highly fertile environment for rampant spread of coronavirus and any learned medical opinion will not favour concentration of people in the constrained and air-conditioned spaces of a casino.
