PONDA: The Electricity Department on Sunday damaged an underground pipeline while drilling holes to install electric poles at Querim.
This has led to water shortage in the village just on the eve of the two-day annual Kallo (zatra) festival of Goddess Sateri.
The incident took place around 11 am at Apewal Priol.
Querim Sarpanch Anisha Gaude said that the villagers are celebrating the annual Kallo festival; relatives of the villagers have arrived for celebration. “Just on the eve of this festival, we are facing water shortage after the pipeline has been damaged,” she said.
She urged the water supply division to immediately repair and restore water supply as citizens are facing hardship and complaining about shortage of water.
“Electricity improvement in our village is also important for us, but there should be coordination between the electricity and water supply departments so that utility services are not damaged and public are not inconvenienced,” she said.
