CANACONA: Prathana Gaonkar and Savita Dhuri were elected as chairperson and vice chairperson of the Canacona Municipal Council (CMC) on Thursday. The four BJP-backed opposition councillors called a press conference soon after to unanimously extend their support to the ruling group.
“We will remain united for at least another year-and-a-half – till the State BJP government exists,” said opposition councillor Hemant Gaonkar, who was joined by Dayanand Pagui, Guru Komarpant and Nitu Desai. Pagui and Shet also criticised the previous council for the lack of development during its tenure.
