Preventive steps carried out to control malaria rise in Nagoa-Arpora

CALANGUTE, JULY 11 Saligao Zilla Parishad member Michael Lobo has carried out preventive measures to control the rise of malaria in Nagoa-Arpora. Acting on a Herald report highlighting the rise of malaria in Nagoa-Arpora Panchayat jurisdiction, Saligao ZP member Lobo immediately swung into action, after residents called on him to carry out preventive measures.

Saligao Zilla Parishad member Michael Lobo has carried out preventive measures to control the rise of malaria in Nagoa-Arpora.
Acting on a Herald report highlighting the rise of malaria in Nagoa-Arpora Panchayat jurisdiction, Saligao ZP member Lobo immediately swung into action, after residents called on him to carry out preventive measures.
Accordingly, Lobo along with local ward member Asha Palyekar and with the help of Government Primary Health authorities carried out checks to stop mosquitoes breeding.
Later, the PHC team carried out spraying in the residential areas and other affected places to control the rise of malaria. The PHC team led by Pednekar carried out spraying in the residential areas.
Speaking to Herald, Michael Lobo said: “Upon receiving calls from the residents of Nagoa-Arpora, I contacted Dr Sachin Govekar, who is presently in Delhi, and apprised him of the alarming rise in malaria cases in the area.”
“Dr Govekar then directed his staff to immediately carry out preventive measures to avoid further spread of malaria. Dr Govekar has promised to visit the affected area on Monday upon his return from Delhi to carry out further required measures,” added Lobo.
It may be recalled that Herald had highlighted the alarming rise of malaria cases in Nagoa-Arpora with over 10 people already in the hospitals for medical attention.
