VASCO: Fr Michael Alleluia Fernandes, assistant to the Director of the Clergy Home, Porvorim, has questioned the silence of the Church’s Commission for Justice despite many injustices taking place across the State, and especially over the mysterious death of Fr Bismarque Dias. He has also questioned the sincerity of the State government in solving the case and demanded that the investigation be handed over to the CBI or SIT immediately.
Fr Michael was addressing the press after a candlelight vigil to honour Fr Bismarque Dias in Vasco on Monday. Over 500 citizens took part in the march.“Look at the way the police waited for crucial evidence to get destroyed in the minor girl rape case reported in a school at Headland Sada and later handed over the case to CBI. The government, at the earliest to avoid further destroying evidence likely to throw light on the cause of Fr Bismarque’s death, should hand over the investigations to CBI or SIT,” said Fr Michael.He further said, “Fr Bismarque had to give up his priesthood as he was fighting for the Vanxim property. Due to his agitation and investigation into the issue, he was transferred to America on a preaching mission. He did not agree as he felt that his mission was to preach in Goa. He continued his mission to save Goa, but was killed by powerful people involved in the real estate business.”
Fr Michael added, “We are now forced to speak out, especially against religious and secular establishments.”
