MAPUSA: The councillor of Mapusa Municipal Council, Rajsingh Rane submitted a letter to the PWD Water Division regarding total mismanagement and mess created due to the ongoing work of laying a new water pipeline in Khorlim area in mid- May.
In this letter, the councillor of ward No 17had highlighted the problems faced by the public due to this work that was stated in January and is still incomplete. The extracted mud has been kept along the road which is leading to traffic congestion and creating a problem for the commuters as the roads have turned narrow. Several two wheelers and pedestrians have already fallen in the trenches which are not covered properly.
Speaking to Herald, Rane informed that it has been over 15 days since the letter was given to the Principal Chief Engineer of PWD water division.
“Last week the Chairperson of MMC had a joint inspection along with the Assistant and Junior Engineers from the PWD and me. They had promised that they will clear the mud from the drains as well as from the road side but only few areas have been cleared. The work started on Friday but again it is the same story. Schools are about to reopen and monsoon can hit the state at any time. I will hold the PWD and their Engineers responsible for any untoward incidents that occur,” said Rane.
