PANJIM: All government, commercial and residential projects coming on 20,000 sq mtrs land and above, would require to obtain ‘consent to establish’ and ‘consent to operate’ from the GSPCB, in future.
The Board has decided to incorporate West Bengal Pollution Control Board regulations, which make it mandatory for the housing, commercial complexes and government projects of 20,000 square metre and above to get consent from the board.
“Currently no consent is required from the Board,” GSPCB Chairman Jose Manual Noronha said. The decision was taken during its Wednesday Board meeting.
A consent fee varying from Rs 2 lakh to Rs 10 lakh, depending on the size of the project, would be charged. However, a concession on fees upto 25 per cent would be granted to non-organizational/ charitable institutes.
