PANJIM: Police sub inspector Rahul Naik and
assistant sub inspector Mohan Halarnkar were booked on Wednesday for alleged
destruction of evidence in a cheating case registered at Ponda police station.
Goa Police has suspended the duo pending investigation.
Naik and Halarnkar, attached with Ponda PS
from Maina Curtorim PS respectively are being investigated along with three
others – Amardeep Rathod, Mukesh Sawant and Lalit Solanki – earlier arrested
for the fraud.

The stolen goods were recovered from the
houses of the two officials. Ponda police stumbled on the information following
the arrest of the third accused who confessed to having sold the stolen items
to the policemen.
