Peeved over the recent decision of not all allowing private buses to operate from the old bus stand in Margao, the All Goa Private Bus Owners’ Association on Sunday gave a one-day token strike call all over the State on November 22.
Addressing a press conference over the issue in the city, President AGPBOA Sudip Tamankar said this recent development and other pending issues had forced them to go on strike.
“We have been operating from the old bus stand for years. This sudden decision has inconvenienced us. There has been no suitable explanation for this move,” he observed.
Tamankar said they will be protesting in front of the offices of the deputy collectors, who are the chairmen of the regional transport offices. Besides the recent issue, there are other pending issues, which we have duly highlighted in the media and the authorities are aware but are doing nothing, he maintained.
Incidentally, the AGPBOA strike call comes when schools reopen after the Diwali vacation.
