CORTALIM: Dabolim MLA Mauvin Godinho recently dedicated the rainwater harvesting project in ward no eight for Regina Mundi High School implemented through Corporate Social Responsibility of MMTC Ltd. Deputy General Manager of MMTC Assis Sequeira, ZP Chairperson-South Nelly Rodrigues, Sancoale ZP member Aparna Bhoj Naik, Chicalim Sarpanch Mary Mascarenhas,, Headmaster of Regina Mundi High School Bro Anish John and a large number of citizens were present. Later the boundary wall for the Regina Mundi School constructed through the Zilla Panchayat was inaugurated.
As a part of the social commitment Cedric Dias proprietor of Prime Builders offered 20 English dictionaries to the Pallotti Home boys.
Saplings were also planted along the Gulmohur road which were donated by Rotary Club of Dabolim. The Rotary Club of Vasco da Gama also gave three wheelchairs for use by residents of Regina Mundi and surrounding areas.
Santan Nanu from Essen Group of Companies handed over a child friendly element to the Regina Mundi Nursery School. Umbrellas given by Dattaraj Salgaocar were handed over to 17 senior citizens from the ward. The open space in front of the Regina Mundi School gate which was beautified by Lila Digital and Environmental Services, Panjim was inaugurated at the hands of Pradip Sarmokadam. A scholarship was awarded to Regina Dias for getting the highest marks from Regina Mundi High School in SSC Exam 2013. Special collections bags given by Jose Fernandes for collection of door-to-door dry waste were given to garbage collection team. Exercise books were given to 26 needy students from the ward while forms for different schemes like Ladli Laxmi/Sahara Insurance/Griha Adhar Scheme/DSSS/Senior Citizen Cards were collected for submission from residents. Nelly Rodrigues released the ward’s 2nd Newsletter ~ brought out every six months by the ward member Francisco Nunes (Chiquito).
