Ravi rules out interference

Even as Goa Police are unable to trace former tourism minister Mickky Pacheco in connection with the death of Nadia Torrado, Home Minister Ravi Naik said the police are investigating the case and claimed he has no role to play in the case.
“It is the duty of the Police department to locate the missing ex-minister and there are higher police officers to guide the investigating team,” said Naik while speaking to Herald along the sidelines of his routine inspection of the swimming pool at Sport Complex, Curti-Ponda.
The minister, however, ruled out any interference in the case.
“Regarding any case, we have our Police department to investigate into it and I don’t interfere in it. We have Investigating Officers (IO) to every case and they are guided by their superiors,” added the home minister.
“I cannot give directions to police officers, but there are IPS officers, SP’s to direct and monitor the investigation in any cases,” said Naik.
Naik refrained to comment on his ex-cabinet colleague’s alleged involvement in Nadia death case saying that the case is sub-judice. “I cannot comment on this as it is sub-judice,” said Naik.
However, Naik went on to say that politicians in general should work for the betterment of the people and take them in the right path.
“I have been saying that politicians should work for people, helping them to avail various government schemes and guide them in proper path. Politicians should also work for the development of people and take them in right direction. Politicians should distance themselves and people at large from anti-social activity,” said Naik.
Commenting on his visit to the swimming pool at Sport Complex, Curti-Ponda, Naik said: “I visit the pool occasionally to oversee functioning and maintenance of the swimming pool, which has a status to that of international standards.”
