Rains poured in rest of the State on Thursday giving indication that monsoon has finally arrived, but for residents of Canacona, it was no different to the two earlier days as the day was hot and humid with clean and clear skies.
Accordingly to sources, despite rains lashing the taluka a few times in the past, the recorded rainfall is not even a inch, besides it has hardly given any push for improvement in ground water storage amenities like rivers and Chapoli Dam.
“Chapoli Dam reservoir continues to linger at its barest capacity,” informed a source.
“With the State observatory previously predicting early monsoon and lately saying that monsoon hitting the State in a few days time, residents seem to keep their eyes glued to the skies for actual arrival of monsoon to commence farming activities,” informed farmer Kashinath Gaunkar.
On Thursday, as usual skies were clear, giving no indication about arrival of monsoons in the taluka.
However, on observation at late Thursday evening, rain clouds were observed from south-west direction, providing hope that monsoons indeed are reaching the State.
