PONDA: To prevent the spread of COVID-19, the residents of Ponda taluka stayed at home and spent quality time with company of their families and children.

Shops and market were closed; and the busy roads were empty throughout the taluka. Not even single pedestrians were seen on road. Ponda fish market remained closed.
On the down side, essential commodities were not available due to the Janata curfew. However, a day earlier people had purchased the necessary commodities and milk as they were asked to stay at home.
The temples in the taluka are shut down till March 31. Only priests were seen performing the daily rituals.
However, a migrant family from Mapusa, unaware of Janta curfew, was seen at bus stand area opposite Almeida High School. The family head said their business is to sell goods and balloon during Shigmo festival, as such, they come to Ponda every year during the festival. On the roadside, they prepared tea on an earthen chulla and enjoyed it in the morning.
