SANGUEM: Despite the Government decision to open the shops 24×7 all over Goa, the Rivona Panchayat in Sanguem, in the best interest and safety of the locals, ordered the closure of all grocery shops in the jurisdiction of the panchayat come what may.

Sarpanch Surya Naik informed that the panchayat had already designated three shops in the village one each at Kevona, Collamb and Zambaulim to take care of supply of grocery items to the door step of the people in their respective areas. The provision of door step supply of grocery items was already in place and the panchayat had even got requisite permissions from the authorities to these three shop owners for the door to door service.
Naik informed that while there was some commotion and misunderstanding among certain people in the morning session over the decision taken by the panchayat, the same was settled and people agreed to go with the decision taken by the.panchayat authorities. Naik informed that the decision to keep the shops closed was taken in the best interest of the health and safety of the people and basically to avoid people from coming into contact with the disease.
Naik informed that the three designated shops will take care of the supply of the grocery items of the villagers till the last day of lockdown and in the event of any person facing any difficulties in getting grocery items than the people are free to contact their respective ward members, informed Naik.
