CHORAO: Claiming that the Chorao-Salvador do Mundo route has been finalised for the proposed bridge on the Mandovi River, Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar has said the foundation stone for the proposed bridge will be laid on May 11.
Addressing a public meeting at the Saude football ground in Chorao on the occasion of the Janasapark Abhiyan Yatra in Mayem constituency, Parrikar said the construction of the proposed bridge would be completed within a year.
Parrikar also assured to resolve the long-pending issue Mayem Custodian issue within a year.
“The BJP government has initiated a number of schemes for the public and poor so that they can lead a better life,” he said.
In his address, North Goa MP Shripad Naik said a bridge linking Chorao Island to the mainland was the need of the hour due to poor ferry services in the area. Local MLA and Deputy Speaker Anant Shet highlighted the pending issues that need to be taken up in Mayem constituency.
Other speakers at the meeting included Health Minister Laximikant Parsekar, MLA Pramod Sawant, BJP State President Vinay Tendulkar, Anil Hoble and Govind Parvatkar.
