PANJIM: Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) has demanded the removal Tourism Minister DIlip Parulekar from the Cabinet after the High Court recently indicted him in the Serula Comunidade forgery case.
NCP delegation led by senior Vice President Trajano D’Mello on Wednesday met governor of Goa and submitted the memorandum seeking her attention to direct State government to sack Parulekar as minister.
D’Mello said that Parulakar is directly indicted in the case and his role is wide open after the High Court’s order and he has no moral right to be a minister in the government.
Addressing reporters in Panjim, D’Mello said that he has approached court through Public Interest Litigation only after he had exhausted all the options at the government level. He said that he met then chief minister Manohar Parrikar and submitted the same document which he has submitted in the court.
“The Lawmaker who has taken an oath to safeguard the Constitution has violated the sanctity of the Constitution. The Hon’ble High Court has observed that ‘the conduct of Dilip Parulekar and other Respondents is an illegal expedient to usurp of land of the Communidade without sanction of law’,” D’Mello said.
D’Mello brought to the notice of the Governor that the government has failed to take action against Parulekar and urged her to sack him from the State Cabinet.
