Several residents from Sancoale who had appealed for SIR have reportedly received rejection replies stating that there was “no time for verification,” triggering criticism from opposition leaders and local representatives.
Advocate Arish Kadar questioned the intentions of the government and criticised the response issued to the applicants. He demanded that the authorities provide a fair and proper explanation instead of what he termed an “absurd reply” citing lack of time for verification.

Kadar alleged that the handling of the matter has raised concerns among residents who were expecting a transparent and lawful process.
Meanwhile, Mahesh Nadar stated that the Congress party would oppose any attempt to deprive citizens of their voting rights.
The Cortalim Congress leader accused the Bharatiya Janata Party of targeting innocent people and claimed that the party would not tolerate what he described as “dadagiri” by the BJP.
He further alleged that efforts were being made to snatch away the basic right to vote from people, particularly members of the minority community, and asserted that Congress would continue to fight against such attempts.
