OLD GOA: Gurudas Bhomkar was voted out as sarpanch, while Melca Vaz was ousted as the deputy sarpanch of the Sao Mathias Panchayat as the no-confidence against them was passed by 4-3 votes at a special meeting on Wednesday.
The four signatories to the no-confidence motion Vaibhavi Sawant, Tulshidas Kundaikar, Prashant Harvalkar and Ankita Chopdekar voted in favour of the motion, while Gurudas Bhomkar, Melca Vaz and Greta Vaz voted against the motion.
Panch Tulshidas Kundaikar was the presiding officer and was assisted by secretary Manoj Mashelkar. EOVP Anil Dhumaskar was present as the BDO observer.
Later, Bhomkar told Herald that all the allegations levelled against him, including that of promoting illegalities, are false. “Never before were allegations of illegalities brought to the notice of the panchayat or the BDO by the panchas concerned,” said Bhomkar, while alleging that one of the ruling panchas had switched sides for personal gains.
Tulshidas Kundaikar stood by the allegations made and added that he could cite several illegalities in the village.
Kundaikar rubbished the allegation that one ruling panch was offered money to switch sides. “Such charges are levelled out of frustration,” Kundaikar added, while stating that the panch had switched sides due to the dictatorial attitude of Bhomkar.
