MARGAO: South Goa MP Francisco Sardinha on Saturday got onto election mode when he assured Betalbatim villagers that he would take up pending works in the village under the MPLAD scheme if he is elected back to Parliament.
“If I contest and get elected with your support, I promise to take up pending development projects under the MPLAD scheme in the village”, Sardinha told Betalbatim villagers after inaugurating a playground there in the presence of local MLA Mickky Pacheco, South Goa ZP Chairperson Nelly Rodrigues, Sarpanch Esperance Fernandes, panch members and others.
The MP took the platform to profusely thank Mickky and the Betalbatim villagers for supporting him to the hilt in the 2009 Lok Sabha polls. “I had received huge votes from the village because of the support from Mickky and the villagers”, Sardinha acknowledged.
Incidentally, Mickky thanked Sardinha for taking up work of the ground when all other leaders had failed, while requesting the MP to sanction a lawn for the ground.
When the media later sought to know whether his candidature has been cleared by the party high command, Sardinha evaded a reply, saying the party would soon take a decision.
