PANJIM: The national level search and rescue exercise (SAREX-2020), will conclude on Friday at Caranzalem beach. It is a mock drill conducted by the Coast Guard.
The rehearsals began at 8 am on March 4, and final exercise will be held on March 6. On Wednesday, a press statement by the government had stated that the exercise will be witnessed by ‘international observers from 36 countries which will involve activation of SAR agencies, followed by Mass Rescue Operation due to stimulation of air crash which would require setting of triage camps, mobilisation of ambulances and medical staff, shifting of rescued personnel to trauma centres/hospitals and other supporting activities.’
The hovercrafts will be involved in shifting of rescued personnel from sea to triage camps at the beach during the mock drill exercise that concludes on Friday. The Goa Police have deployed the force as a part of the security.
