MARGAO: Salcete Sarpanchas on Wednesday cried foul over the practice of arranging lunch for the team conducting the panchayat audit.
The question over arranging lunch for the audit team figured at the meeting of the taluka sarpanchas and deputy sarpanchas when some sarpanchas questioned the practice, since they have to shell out the money from the panchayat funds. A sarpanch drew attention of his colleagues that it normally costs Rs 5,000-7,000 to buy lunch and wondered why the panchayat has to meet the huge cost when the auditors are entitled to salaries.
