PANJIM: Sattari villagers have rejected the State government’s policy decision to grant occupancy rights to Alvara land holders, considering them to be unauthorised occupants over the government land, through the recent amendment to Goa Land Revenue Code.
Aggrieved villagers on Tuesday met to oppose the government decision and not to file the required application before the concerned authority to consider confirmation of definitive title to the Alvara land over them.
“The villagers concluded the meeting by rejecting the offer of the government to grant occupancy rights, by amended Goa Land Revenue Code, 1968, by claiming itself to be vesting with occupancy rights where proprietorship in land vests with villagers,” Adv Andre A Pereira said in a press release.
The villagers further denounced the validity of extract Form I and XIV, since fraudulently framed and maintained, that causes immense suffering and prejudice to them, holding that government is not physically living individual or farmer to vest with occupancy rights and does not die naturally to be succeeded by legal heir.
