Sawant urges review of leave and licence permits for commercial vehicles

After a meeting with the Pernem–Bardez Truck Association, where members raised concerns about non-Goan truckers overtaking local business, Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant stressed the need for tighter regulations. Responding to media queries, he said commercial vehicles such as trucks and taxis should not receive “leave and licence” permits, as these permissions were never intended for the sector. Sawant assured that the government would examine the issue closely to protect local livelihoods and prevent misuse of permits.
A complaint filed over an ‘unneeded’ repaint has also raised suspicion of a possible scam.
