PANJIM: The High Court of Bombay at Goa has directed the Water Resources Department authorities to immediately seal an existing well and stop forthwith the extraction of ground water from the Coastal Regulation Zone area in the occupation of Ashok Meher at Calangute.
The court while granting an interim order said that no water should be extracted or used for any purpose until further orders and also directed Meher to forthwith cease using the structure for commercial purposes.
If there are any occupants then Meher should ensure that they vacate it within next two days.
Arguing on behalf of petitioner Cruz Silveira and another, Adv Rohit Bras de Sa said that the illegal construction by Meher was presently used for commercial purposes.
