CANACONA: Philip Fernandes, a resident of Ponsulem, Canacona, has been arrested for assaulting a senior citizen and remanded to seven days judicial custody. The accused has a history of criminal activity, with four criminal cases and eight chapter cases registered against him. He was previously externed for 18 months by the South Goa District Magistrate in August 2024.

The victim, Mrs. Elizabeth Fernandes, has accused the Canacona Police of failing to provide adequate support and assistance, allowing the accused to continue harassing her and her husband. She also alleged that despite the externment order, the accused continues to reside in the village in defiance of the law.
