CANACONA: A separate board for child education and the linking of pre-primary and primary as one section were among the 10 demands presented to Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar at a two-day convention on child education at Amone-Poinguinim on Sunday.
With most participants consisting of balwadi, anganwadi, KG, Shishuvatika workers and primary teachers raising their hands in approval of the 10-point resolutions read by Mahendra Phaldessai (Resolution Committee chairman), Gomantak Balshikshan Parishad President Surekha Dixit submitted the demands to Parrikar at the concluding function of the two-day Gomantak Balshikshan Convention.
Demanding a separate board for child education, Gomatak Balshikshan Parishad also called for linking pre-primary and primary as one section to enable proper education to the young children in the State.
Calling for opening of training centers for teachers, the parishad also demanded a separate syllabus and curriculum with proper infrastructure, educational kits and aids for enhancing child education system.
There should be no homework and examinations and no scope should be left to provide any opportunity for competitions nor should the young children be subjected to punishment. The students should not be compelled to wear tie and boots, were some of the other demands at the parishad.
The parishad also called for training to stakeholders and proper implementation of educational laws and guidelines while dealing with children.
In order to bring more closure more teaching amenities, the parishad has demanded a joint convention on child education with their counterparts in Maharashtra.
After receiving the 10 resolutions, Parrikar advised the parishad officials to submit the resolutions separately so that government can view and take actions in individual manner.
Earlier, welcome committee chairperson Savita Tawadkar (also headmistress of Balram Residtional High School, Amone) welcomed, working president Kamlakar Mhalshi spelled out the success of the convention. Sports Minister Ramesh Tawadkar, Balshikshan and Grammangal, Pune Secretary Ramesh Panse also spoke on the occasion.
