MARGAO: The Seraulim gram sabha on Sunday chaired by sarpanch Leslie Camilo Dourado, did not receive any proposal for development work in the village.
Gram sabha members, however, demanded that the road dug for laying of water pipeline by JICA be immediately repaired. Local MLA Caetano Silva who also attended the meeting promised villagers that he would get the excavated road repaired at the earliest.
Gram sabha member Braz Fernandes raised the issue of construction of railway over-bridge near Seraulim church and suggested that railway authorities construct underground tunnel for the benefit of the villagers and vehicular traffic. Sarpanch informed villagers that the railways had proposed flyover bridge along the railway track; however, though land has been acquired more land is needed to have a flyover. Resolution was taken by villagers for underground tunnel.
Gram sabha members demanded that the panchayat body take up with the government cleaning of polluted Sal river which flows along the village. It was informed that the government has already taken up the issue and that a Japanese company is being given the work for cleaning the river. To an issue of garbage collection, the sarpanch informed that the panchayat does not have a site to dump non biodegradable waste and that the Goa Pollution Control Board has rejected the site proposed by the panchayat. A resolution was adopted to desilt drains in ward V under MGNREG scheme.
