PANJIM: The high court has extended the time for holding of elections to the managing committee of the Serula Communidade by six weeks and not three months, as was inadvertently mentioned in a previous report in the Herald.
In an order dated December 12, the high court has extended the time of holding election by only six weeks. The court also directed the Administrator of Comunidades to ensure that the process of election is complete in all respects on or before February 15, 2014.
The court further held that no further extension would be granted on any count.
The court also accepted the statement of the advocate general that a temporary committee would be appointed to look into the affairs of the comunidade.
“However, the said committee shall not take any major financial or policy decision, including allotment of plots, etc and would only look after the day to day affairs of the comunidade,” ruled the court. The court also noted that the State government had already taken cognizance of the matter.
“We have perused the file of the State government which was produced for our perusal by the advocate general. Upon perusal of the file, we do not find that the decision of the State government requires any interference by this court,” state the order of the high court.
