MARGAO: The Market Vendors Association of the SGPDA has decided to start full day operations of the fruit, vegetable, chicken, general stores and fish stores. It may be recalled that the traders had restricted operations for the last eight days due to the cases that emerged in Margao. The Federation of all the vendors decided to open the market.
As the fish trade resumes, the fishermen are still waiting for the much needed restoration of the fish retail market facilities at SGPDA.
The Federation has also expressed displeasure over the bad facilities at the modern market. Federation President, Felix Gonsalves said that the CCTV cameras that were installed in the market are not in a working condition anymore. “There was a music system inside, which created a pleasant experience for the traders as well as the people coming to the market. That too is non functional” he said.
Felix also complained that the gates of the market have broken and that it needs to be installed immediately to ensure that the material inside the market remains safe.
