PERNEM: The Mandrem Shigmotsav Samiti has organized a variety of competitions and events for the upcoming Shigmotsav festival on April 2. The festival is celebrated all over the State with vibrant floats parade and cultural performances.
The Samiti has planned a felicitation programme to honour individuals working in the fields of social welfare, theatre, and music. This programme will take place at 4 pm. The floats parade which will showcase creatively designed floats will commence at 6 pm in Morjim. The first prize is of Rs 1 lakh, the second prize is of Rs 80,000, third prize is of Rs 50,000, fourth prize is of Rs 30,000 rupees and the fifth prize is of Rs 20,000.

In addition, there will also be a Romatamel competition for which prizes of the above amount will be given. The samiti has also organized a folk dance competition, with cash prizes ranging from Rs 10,000 to Rs 30,000. There will be also be an all-Goa fancy dress competition, with prizes ranging from Rs 5000 to 20,000 rupees. Another fancy dress competition has been specifically curated for junior category for participants of Pernem taluka the junior category.
