TEAM HERALD
PONDA: Forty-one higher secondary teachers from the State will be bestowed with Shikshak Bhushan Award, constituted by Shree Sateri Pissani Education Society’s (SSPES) Shree Gopal Gaonkar Memorial, Goa multi-faculty college at Dharbandora.
“The teachers, who will be felicitated on Teachers Day, have been chosen by the selection committee based on suggestions from students. Teachers were chosen based on a student’s poll from higher secondary schools across the State,” said Dr Manoj Kamat, senior vice-president SSPES, during a press briefing at Ponda.
“This is the first time where a teacher does not have to apply for awards, as it is being done especially by the State government,” added Dr Kamat.
SSPES President and Sanvordem MLA Ganesh Gaonkar said: “We have constituted this award with an aim to appreciate teachers who have dedicated their life for teaching.”
The function will be held at Sadashiv Marathe Samaj Mandir, Piliem-Dharbandora, on September 5 at 2.30 pm.
