PONDA: Shruti Satarkar, wife of the deceased Shridhar Satarkar, said that was unaware of her husband’s involvement in the cash-for-job scam linked to queen-pin Pooja Naik from Old Goa.

Shruti said that Shridhar was asked to report to the Mardol Police Station for an eight-day inquiry and went missing on the evening of October 30.
She said that on November 4, she filed a case of abetment to suicide against Pooja, alleging that that latter collected money from her husband for providing government jobs, but failed to return the amount after she failed to provide government job. This caused harassment and mental torture to her husband and drove him to take the extreme step.
The police have registered a case against Pooja under Section 108 of BNS.
On the other hand Shridhar’s relatives have been demanding a thorough investigation into the scam and have also requested that Shruti be given her husband’s job in the Goa State SC and OBC Development Corporation to earn their livelihood.
They have also urged the authorities to ensure that the hapless Satarkar family is not harassed for no fault of theirs.
It may be recalled that the queen pin Pooja was arrested on October 22 by the Mardol Police and later her co-accused Ajit Satarkar, a driver by profession was also nabbed.
Though Pooja claimed that she was a government servant working in the Secretariat, it was not known that Shridhar was aware that she was not a government employee. However, Shridhar found himself at the receiving end when police called him for quizzing in connection with the case.
Shridhar was quizzed twice, but was called to the Mardol Police station for eight days in a bid to obtain vital information from him so as to find out who was collecting money on behalf of the accused to provide jobs.
Police investigation revealed that he was using a two-wheeler which was registered in the name of Pooja. The police said that they were not interrogating him as an accused but were treating him as a witness as there were no complaints against him.
It is learnt that Shridhar committed suicide as job aspirants started demanding money.
