Shripad wants review of NH widening

Bhartiya Janata Party MP Shripad Naik has urged the government to review the proposal for widening of the National Highway 4-A.
Raising the issue in the Lok Sabha under Rule 377, he pointed out that the widening of roads is always welcomed but Goa has the unique problem that any widening of the highway will result in dislocation of the large number of residential and commercial establishments on both sides.
He said the decision to widen the highway should, therefore, be re-examined in the interest of the people to be affected. He wondered what kind of compensation the affected would get for rehabilitation and resettlement.
