“The entire process is computerized and simplified. This is also an attempt to weed out corruption and bring in transparency,” North Goa Collector Nila Mohanan told a press briefing on Thursday.
Under the e-service, the partition process would be completed within three-to-four months with the applicant receiving an acknowledgment number through SMS to begin with. “A time limit of seven days is fixed for processing the application, issue of notices and proclamation. A hearing date is also informed by SMS. In case of lacuna, the applicant is informed by SMS to rectify any deficiencies,” Mohanan said, explaining the procedure.
Comparing the benefit as compared to the manual process, she further said the processing time has been cut from six-to-eight months, to three-to-four months, and there is no delay in conducting the property survey since it is fixed by deputy collector in an order to the surveyor.
“All steps of the partition process including survey, collection of fees and furnishing of survey report is done at the single window in the office of deputy collector,” the North Goa Collector added.
In another achievement, the service for issuing different affidavits has crossed the 5,000 mark since November 2014. Moreover, the talathis have now been roped-in for giving the affidavit formats which until now has been with the deputy collectors and mamlatdars. The affidavit facilitation centres was rolled out to all talukas in November-December 2014 for issuing certificates such as residence, income, medical, OBC etc. Mohanan informed that over 5252 certificates have been issued so far.
